Massive Fire Consumes State Street Saloon in Portsmouth

An entire block in downtown Portsmouth is gone after a multi-alarm fire early this morning.

The fire broke out early Monday morning at the State Street Saloon and quickly spread to nearby buildings. Two restaurants and several apartments were consumed by the flames.

WMUR reports one firefighter had been transported to the hospital. Authorities say the fire may have started in the restaurant's kitchen.
