Five Facts To Be The Smartest Patriots Fan At The Party

Being a Pittsburgh Steelers fan, I don't really have a horse in the race today. And if I'm keeping it real...I don't care who wins. Part of me wants to see the Philadelphia Eagles pull off an upset, just because I like to see the underdog get win. And maybe...just maybe...I'd like to see the New England Patriots lose because they have five Super Bowl rings, while my Steelers have six...and I'd like to keep it that way.

Now before you get all worked up and start making hater-ade comments...you should know, I respect Tom Brady and Bill Belichick. Those two guys are amazing and talented. But I've been a Pittsburgh fan since I was a kid and wore my Terry Bradshaw jersey. You know...the original TB12!

So with that said, as you gear up in your Gronk jerseys, and pull on your Pats sweats, and get ready for Super Bowl LII...here are a few interesting facts you can throw out during the game to sound like the smartest person in the room, thanks to CBS Sports, NFL Research, NJ.com.

1. No quarterback has ever led the league in passing, and went on to win the Super
Bowl.  Tom Brady led the NFL with 4,577 passing yards this season, so it could
happen this year.

2. The top quarterback has made the Super Bowl five times in history. But they've all
lost. Including Brady in 2007 when the Patriots lost to the Giants that year.

3. Brady is 40 and coach Bill Belichick is 65. They're a combined 105 years old, which will be the oldest age for any starting quarterback-head coach combination in
Super Bowl history.

4. This is interseting. Eagles QB Nick Foles only started three games in the regular
season, because he wasn't in the lineup until Carson Wentz got injured. Only two
quarterbacks have started in a Super Bowl after having fewer regular season starts
that season: Doug Williams of the Washington Redskins in 1987 and Jeff Hostetler 
of the New York Giants in 1990. Both started only two games during the regular
season...both WON the Super Bowl.

5. The Patriots have played in seven Super Bowls under Belichick. Win or lose,
they've never once scored in the first quarter. They are 5-2 in those games.

And a Bonus Fact: Should Eagles QB Nick Foles lead Philly to a victory, he'd become
the first quarterback to start the season as a backup, and then lead his team to a Lombardi Trophy since...you guessed it...Tom Brady in 2001.

Whichever team wins today I'll be fine. All I really want is a great game and some awesome food. And I hope the score is close and the commercials are memorable.
