Our listener Lauren from Dover sent us a message on our app asking us to spread the word about a local event this Saturday. Consider the word spread, Lauren!

Lauren is the team captain for Tutus for Tatas, which is one of the 30(ish) teams that will be at the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life event happening this Saturday at Spaulding High School in Rochester (you know we love a team with the word "tatas" in the title).

Teams will be walking to raise money for cancer research and treatment. The event is open to the public, and is guaranteed fun for the whole family! The theme is Re’Lei for a Cure, so this will be a huge Luau party. Maybe Mother Nature will serve up some summer weather for this theme (one can only hope).

According to the Facebook Event Page, the itinerary Re'Lei for a Cure is as follows:

Saturday, June 24, 2023, rain or shine, at Spaulding High School in Rochester
11am - Survivor Brunch
12pm - Opening Ceremony
9:45pm - Closing Ceremony
10pm - Wrap Up

The event is free, with various fundraisers on-site.

The event page goes on to say:

"Fighting cancer takes many things like research, free rides to chemo and lodging near hospitals, and our 24/7 helpline. But we can’t do any of that without our fundraising events. At Relay For Life, we celebrate survivors, remember loved ones lost, and fight back together for lifesaving change. At a Relay For Life event, no one faces cancer alone."

The American Cancer Society is the leading cancer-fighting organization with a vision to end cancer as we know it, for everyone. There's still time to join the relay or donate to an existing team. Last time I checked, Tutus for Tatas was in the lead by far, and up to $11,000! Way to go, Tatas! More info on the event here
