Here’s Why the Hampton Beach, New Hampshire Fireworks Schedule is Changing This Year
Do you love the fireworks on Hampton Beach as much as I do? There is something so Summertime about seeing those lights in the sky over the ocean. It's kinda magical. This year, the schedule has changed, however, and it's for a very good reason.
The New Hampshire Piping Plovers are Protected
After officials at Hampton Beach spoke with New Hampshire Fish and Game, they decided to nix the fireworks for the month of June to give them a chance to nest on the beach.
Taking Care of These Endangered Birds Takes Some Work
Volunteers come to help set up enclosures for the piping plover nest to protect it from predators. Did you know that the piping plover will lay 4 eggs exactly at a time? At that point, Fish & Game comes in and puts up protection for the nest without freaking out the adult bird too much. The entire process doesn't take very long, about 20 minutes, so they don't freak out the adult bird.
The Hampton Beach fireworks are on Wednesday nights. People that I have talked to about them would love to have them on maybe Friday or Saturday night? Maybe they will change it at some point, but for now, the fireworks will be on Wednesday nights starting on July 1 and running throughout the Summer.

There will be a special display of fireworks on July 4th. This year, it's the country's 250th anniversary. They might do something EXTRA special.
The fireworks start at 9:30pm.
