Here are some tips on how to avoid injuring yourself while carving the jack-o-lantern this year.

By now, many of us have picked out the perfect pumpkin that we'll design for Halloween. Follow these safety tips and happy carving!

1. Choose the correct knife or invest in one of the carving kits you can find just about anywhere this time of year.

2. Prevent pumpkin slippage! Use newspaper or a table cloth and cover your work area.

3. DO NOT hold the pumpkin from the inside, always put the stem cap on and hold from the top.

4. If your carving tool gets stuck, slowly work it out of the pumpkin. If you do cut yourself and the bleeding doesn't stop after a few minutes, head to the ER!
