It's senior prank season so it is not uncommon to see some tomfoolery take place around town. You could see a teachers car enveloped in toilet paper or fake "for sale" signs all over the school's lawn. I love a good lighthearted prank, I'm no square! Our senior prank was turning the entire science wing into slip and slide! Of course it was short live and only a few of us were brave enough to show up but those are fond memories.

However, when a prank is at the expense of a local business, I feel like that's where we need to draw the line.

On the New Hampshire Eats Facebook Page is was reported that the giant banana that hangs outside Chef Joe's Catering in Franconia, New Hampshire, has gone missing! Commentors seem to think it was part of some senior prank.

I know the first instinct is to laugh when you hear a giant banana has gone missing.

And I wont lie, there were some amusing comments on this post. Some of my favorites include:

New England Beer Adventures: IT WAS A RUN BY FRUITING! 🍌🍌🍌

Nathan Haile: I'm sure the thieves will find themselves on a slippery slope

Damon Lemay: That's bananas that someone would take it and split. People keep monkeying around

But all jokes and banana puns aside, for Chef Joe's I'm sure this banana has become a staple for them!

I have no idea how long they have had that banana hanging outside their establishment but I would bet money that when they refer to themselves as "the one with the giant banana out front". This banana going missing is robbing them of one of their claims to fame!

And furthermore, this banana is not easy to replace. Where did they even get it in the first place? Maybe it is a one of a kind piece made by a local artist.

And last but not least, the person who took it probably has no plans or idea of what to do with it now. It's one of those things that might be funny in the moment but after a week of driving around with a giant banana in your trunk it becomes a nuisance.

Hopefully the giant banana in question hasn't already been discarded in a dumpster somewhere. If you are the giant banana thief, do the right thing and return it. You know you have no long term plans for it and Chef Joe's really misses it.

Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
