Some of these places make sense. Others...not so much.

The 21-year-old man was found by the ski patrol in the woods along the Upper Ravine Trail after being reported missing by his friends.

Emily Sotelo, 20, of Westford, Massachusetts, became separated from her group at the Lafayette Place campground in Franconia Sunday, and did not return at the designated time.

New Hampshire Fish & Game said the man was hiking with his niece about a quarter mile from the summit of Mount Garfield when they called for help.

A 911 call came from the New Zealand Hut located nearly 3 miles from the Appalachian Trail and accessible only by hiking.

This is so heartbreaking.

Two Massachusetts hikers may now have to foot the bill for their own rescue.  According to Mass Live, Nisrine Orgad of Weymouth, Massachusetts and Henry Santos of Peabody, Massachusetts were out hiking on the Greenleaf Trail in Franconia, NH when they lost their way...
