I received an email from a wonderful person at the Applebee's in Epping, New Hampshire.  It read,

Good afternoon! A gentleman stopped into my restaurant  and has a pretty unique story I wanted to share to help get him recognized. His name is Liam Elmes and he’s raising awareness and has a go fund me page for his best friend with ALS.

He’s from Ireland and has so far walked from Canada and made it to Epping NH today and plans to go as far as Colombia. He has a Facebook page and tiktok page and we hope that his name gets out there for the wonderful work he’s doing for his best friend. Thank you!

This made me stop to think about what was going on here.

First of all, this person stopped down their day to write to their favorite radio station to tell us about this lad she had never met before, but had so much compassion for him and his mission.   That is remarkable.

Secondly, the young man, Liam Elmes, has quite a story he's sharing everywhere he goes. His best friend Luke Lawes was tragically diagnosed with ALS at 26 years old and is now confined to a wheelchair, according to the GoFundMe site.

Luke was not to be tied down by his rapidly debilitating disease, so he traveled while he could, with the help of his fiance, Becky.

Liam decided to raise awareness about this horrible disease, so he's walking from Canada to Columbia, and is currently in New Hampshire and Massachusetts as his trek continues.

You can read the full story here, and it's quite heart-tugging, and watch the most recent video from Dover, Durham, and Epping, New Hampshire. You can follow along at luckycharms_27 or donate here.

Kudos to the employees of Applebee's in Epping for taking care of young Liam on his journey.
