Here’s How Much Snow Maine & New Hampshire Will Get on Sunday
Well hello there my dear friends. It's your old pal, Uncle Matty here with you for another fun winter weather update for the Pine Tree State.
As always, I like to start these off by reminding you all that I am in no way classically trained as a professional meteorologist, though I have seen the movie Twister about 351 times, so I wouldn't argue with my obvious expertise.
In addition to the movie Twister, I also know how to read the handy little info-graphics that are put together and sent out my actual Maine meteorologists. And, as I always do, I then put those together and share them with you here.
If you're starting to get sick of storm after storm here in Maine, I've got bad news for you; there is not clear ending in sight. It appears as though Maine has at least three more good-sized winter storms in the pipeline over the next 6-7 days.
As we head into Championship weekend, the weather picks back up very late on Saturday night and will stick with us through a good chunk of the day on Sunday. While snow totals won't be completely crazy, this storm is going to make travel to and from those football parties a little tricky.
As far as those snow totals go, it won't be quite as much as we got Thursday of this week, but it will still call for the shovels and plow trucks. Central Maine to the mountains and the coastline will get about 2-4". Southern Maine is likely to pick up about double that amount while northern Maine will see less.
After this storm moves out, the next system is going to move in overnight on Tuesday and hang on through Wednesday morning. The good part about the next one is that there won't be nearly as much snowfall as these last two. The bad part? It makes way for a much bigger storm that will impact the entire region on Valentine's Day.
Here's a radar preview of the storm that is moving in for the end of next week. Peep how the experts are saying that snowfall amounts could be 'significant'. Pretty cool, huh? I mean, if you like lots of snow that is.
We'll keep you updated as this big one gets closer to New England. Maybe it'll completely miss us. Unlikely of course, but there's always hope.
