Good Over Evil – Mainers Help Sweet Dog in Hit and Run Accident
Sweet Ben has a long road to recovery, made just a little easier by generous Mainers.
Ben, the sweetest Bernedoodle with expressive eyebrows and an even more expressive tail was recently hit by a driver who left the scene. Because he's got doodle in him, he's still wagging his tail...just a little slower. Ben was looking at a mountain of vet bills that the community helped with.

How was this sweet pup hurt in Maine?
It was recently that Ben was on his way to his daily adventure into Winnick Woods in Cape Elizabeth to play with his furry friends. But he was hit by a car that heartlessly sped away, leaving him injured. He was rushed to the Maine Veterinary Medical Center (MVMC) in Scarborough, where he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). If you are a pet owner, you know the insane amount of money this will end up costing.
Is Ben going to be okay?
Ben before the accident enjoying the outdoors
Ben's person Kerry said,
He is doing very well, all things considered! It is going to be a long recovery, but he is with us, and that makes me overwhelmed with joy.
When Ben was first in the ICU, a GoFundMe was set up and within days the goal was reached! The generosity of the community heartbroken by the senseless act of hitting a dog and leaving the scene overshadowed that cowardly act! With their donations, big and small, Ben is on the road to recovery so he can 'chase squirrels, steal hearts, and spread joy to everyone he meets.'
Ben and his person are so grateful to the many generous Mainers
Nearly 50 people donated money to help get Ben back on his paws. Many of those donations came anonymously. I'm telling you about Ben because this is what Mainers are made of. This is the goodness that often gets overshadowed by all the bad.
Because Ben can't thank you, I will. One sweet little pup gets to keep going because of you. Thank you.
