Dashcam Captures Winthrop, Maine Driver’s Risky Maneuver Gone Wrong

This driver was lucky to escape mostly uninjured in this crash, which was caught on their dashcam. They collided with a dump truck in Winthrop, Maine, and the video is shocking.

Car Hits Dump Truck

A driver on Wayne Road in Winthrop decided to pass a car and a dump truck on May 14, 2025. What the driver didn't expect was that a dump truck would make a legal left turn into the public boat ramp for Berry Pond.

Accident Site

The collision happened here, destroying the driver's car and sending the dump truck off the road and into the brush about 10 yards away. This made it difficult for crews to get the heavy dump truck out of the steep ditch.

Dashcam Lessons Video Footage

The driver of the vehicle that hit the dump truck shared his dashcam video with the YouTube channel "Dashcam Nation," which puts together compilations of bad driving situations caught on dashcams. Anything from someone not stopping at a traffic light, or getting into a serious wreck.

The driver in the passing lane admitted to his mistake.

I got impient and passed a car and a dump truck. As bad as it looks, both me and my passanger got out of the accident with just scratches and brusing.

That car, though, is toast.

This driver seems to have learned their lesson and is likely humbled a bit by it.

Don't be an impatient driver. Don't pass several cars in the left lane of a two-lane road. You'll get to where you're going much more safely that way.
