You might be surprised to know that, according to U.S. News & World Report per information from the U.S. Census Bureau, Maine is in the top five most Irish states in the country.
New Hampshire takes the top spot followed closely by Massachusetts.
The World Population Review, which has a similar ranking of the most Irish states, notes that the Irish population in Maine is about 15.52 percent or about 224,524 people.
