Only 1 Maine City Named Among 100 Best Places to Live on the East Coast
It's funny that a state like Maine, known as "Vacationland", didn't appear in at least 10 spots on this thing. The FW recently released a list of the 100 Best Places To Live on the East Coast, and one of my favorite places to walk along the oceanside made an appearance! However, I think Cape Elizabeth deserved a higher ranking than #65, but at least it's there and representing our state.
So Cape Elizabeth came in hot at #65 out of 100 places mentioned, and although I think there's other cities that belong on this list as well, Cape Elizabeth was a good choice for so many reasons. If you walk along the shoreline, you're bound to see beautiful waves hitting the rocks along the coast. In some parts of the city, you might even feel like you're in a movie setting because it's so beautiful. It's even home base to one of the most iconic lighthouses on the East Coast (and maybe even the world), Portland Head Light.
I'll give you some statistics from fw.com, so you can form your own opinion.
- Population: 9,279
- Median home value: $408,800 (87% own)
- Median rent: $1,191 (13% rent)
- Median household income: $111,884
I'd love to live in Cape Elizabeth, but damn would it be expensive. From everything I've seen, it seems like it's typically sprinkled with out-of-towners' vacation homes, which checks out.
