What are you gonna do with that Christmas tree? Help out this farm's adorable goats!

Iron Leaf Farm is a small Nigerian Dwarf dairy goat farm in Litchfield, Maine. It's owned by Anne and her husband. Each year on the first Saturday after the New Year, they do their annual Christmas Tree Drop. They ask people to bring their undecorated Christmas tree to the farm so they can feed their herd over the winter. Beats leaving it on the sidewalk for the trash collector.

Tree Drop-off: Saturday, January 6, from 12-4pm

They make it a sweet farm visit with an outdoor fire, cocoa, cookies, and goat visits! They are so cute!

If goats, cookies, and a cozy fire aren't your thing, you can always just leave your tree by the driveway anytime. The goats love pine trees! They strip all the bark and needles off the trees. They don't just eat them to eat them; there are many health benefits. The pine trees are a natural dewormer and have tons of vitamins, trace minerals, and antioxidants. If I could stomach it, I'd eat my Christmas tree! These goats really strip the trees to nothing!

If they end up with more trees than they can use, they will get them to other farms in the area. Because of the rainy summer we had, it was a hard one for hay farmers. That means there is an even greater need for your Christmas tree for the goats.

So, don't leave it for the trash guys. Take it to Iron Leaf Farm at 124 Neck Road in Litchfield, Maine, on Saturday, January 6, from 12-4 pm.
