The internet broke last week as news was circulating that Target would start selling alcohol in stores.

No, not for people to pick up and bring home...

Instead, shoppers, as they do with their in-store Starbucks, can pick up a "Targarita" before or after shopping and sip a tequila-based cocktail with their shopping pals at an in-store bar.

Um...this is brilliant and a nightmare. And also... not true. For now at least.

Can we focus on how much business Target will get if they implement this?

One of two things would happen (and I am going to use stereotypes - I know Target is forever not just women).

1. GIRLS TRIP. If my wife is going to go to Target with a group of her gal-pals, her one or two-hour Target trip will become three to four hours.

I can picture it now. A few Targaritas before shopping, a few hundred bucks "donated" to Target, and a few more Targaritas after shopping.

2. GUYS BAR. I can also see this in-store bar being really male-heavy. If, and when, my wife asks me to go to Target to poke around, 99% of the time the answer is no.

This in-store bar would change that drastically. If my wife said let's go to Target, you sit at the bar and I'll shop...I would hand her my credit card and immediately belly up at the Target bar.

The sad thing is this is just a rumor...FOR NOW.

I'm not sure where it started; however, this viral concept of a Targarita, and in-store Target bars, is just made up. Snopes even did some fact checking to find no proof of any cocktail bars coming to the stores.

Although, now that it has so much buzz around it, Target really should find a way to make this happen. For now, no Targaritas in Maine or New Hampshire.
