Maine’s Favorite Christmas Cookie: Classic or Basic?
Newsweek recently stated according to a recent study of Google search trends, every state has its own Christmas cookie of choice. Newsweek said that Unscramblerer.com took the data from December 1 to 10 and turned it into a little map showing what people across the country are searching for when it comes to holiday treats.
While some states got inventive with their preferences—Alabama’s all about Oreo Christmas Cookies, and California is on a Christmas Monster Cookie kick. First off, not sure what Oreo Christmas Cookies entail, but let's be honest, Oreo anything sounds amazing.
Maine? Well, we kept it simple. Newsweek recently revelealed… the humble shortbread cookie is Maine's most popular. Sure, shortbread cookies are buttery and tasty, but they can be just slightly more exciting as Grandma's walnut fruitcake.
No offense to shortbread lovers out there, but we need to jazz it up a bit. I'll tell you what, maybe tack on a nice layer of frosting? A little drizzle of chocolate, perhaps? Anything other than a few crunchie red and green sprinkles and you'll probably get me on board.
Other popular cookies throughout the US include gingerbread (doesn't really get more Christmas than that), peppermint cookies, and peanut butter blossoms. I also am not sure what these are but in most cases, peanut butter anything has my vote.
So, there you have it, the ol' classic shortbread cookie is what will likely be making the rounds at the family get togethers ths year.
Here is the breakdown of favorite Christmas Cookie, state-by-state.
