Fodor’s Names This Massachusetts Bagel Shop the Best in America
Fodor's Travel guide has named a Massachusetts bagel shop the best in the entire U.S. The Owner/Chef was going to be a school teacher, but she decided to open up a bagel shop instead and we're sure glad she did.
Mary Ting is the owner/chef of Bagelsaurus at 1796 Massachusetts Ave., in Cambridge. The shop is known for the decades-old sourdough culture that has produced thousands and thousands of the bagels since 2013.
The fermentation process for the bagels is slow. It requires 24 hours of patience, with just 5 simple ingredients.

Guy Fieri Recognized This Bagel Shop as Wicked Good
When Guy tried one of Mary's bagels, he said the only thing that was wrong with it is that it was already 1/4 gone. (he had taken a big bite... as he does.)
If you see the process of making bagels, it looks like you have to have the room, the equipment and a lot of love to create these chewy, tasty breakfast favorites. Mary had the desire to create these bagels because of the lack of bagel options in the Boston area. What's the old expression, "necessity is the Mother of Invention."
The menu at Bagelsaurus has a lot of variety whether you are a veggie or a meat-eater. One that caught my eye was the Classic Jumbo. (of course, I want the JUMBO.) It's an egg, with cabot cheese and mustard butter. You can add bacon, (yes) oven roasted tomatoes, (yes) and avocados (yes) for an extra charge. If you're going to try a bagel at the best bagel shop in the Country, you might as well go all the way.
