I have watched that clip at least 100 times since that night and every. single. time. I tear up. What a night it was!

Big Papi Will Never Have to Pay for a Drink in Boston

David Ortiz was a huge part of the momentum of that 2004 team. Some say, it was because of him solely, that the Red Sox became a team of "idiots" who got the job done for us after 86 years of misery.

The 2004 World Series was the best, by far, but that team went on to win again in 2007, 2013 and 2018, minus Johnny Damon who immediately went to the Yankees after 2004 and he broke all our hearts. Whatever Johnny. Fenway fans threw dollar bills at him the next time he was up at bat in a Yankees uniform. I still haven't forgiven him.

Papi continues to be the Red Sox player that we know and love. He hates the Yankees as much as we do.

Recently, Papi was on the Masked Singer. He was the first one to be eliminated, but they should have kept him around. He's the secret sauce of winning.

As you can see, I am a very big Big Papi fan. I remember meeting him once a long time ago and I couldn't speak. I am hoping to redeem myself at the Brook on January 22, 2026.
