A Farmington police officer is recovering from a head-on crash early Monday morning that totaled his vehicle.

The on-duty officer crashed into a Honda Accord on Main Street (Route 153) that crossed the center line shortly after midnight, according to Farmington Police Chief Scott Orlando. Stafford County Scanner Alerts reported the crash took place near the Circle K store.

The driver of the Accord is suspected to have been driving under the influence at the time, according to Orlando. The identity of the officer was not disclosed.

Both drivers were hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

Rochester Police and the Strafford County Technical Accident Reconstruction Team are leading the investigation due to the involvement of a Farmington Police officer.
