Jason Aldean, Wife and Crew Safe Following Route 91 Harvest Festival Shooting
Jason Aldean, his wife Brittany and his crew are all safe following a mass shooting at the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas, Nev., on Monday morning (Oct. 2). Aldean was performing when the incident took place.
"Tonight has been beyond horrific," Aldean writes on Instagram. "I still don’t know what to say ...
"My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved tonight," Aldean adds. "It hurts my heart that this would happen to anyone who was just coming out to enjoy what should have been a fun night."
Brittany Aldean, who is pregnant with the couple's first child together, was with Aldean in Las Vegas. In an Instagram post of her own, she writes, “We are safe … our angels were definitely watching over us tonight."
"No words for what happened … Just horrific," Brittany adds. "Praying for everyone.”
More than 50 people were killed and more than 500 people were injured in Monday morning's shooting, which took place during Aldean's headlining set on the Route 91 Harvest Festival's final night. A fan-shot video video shows the country star performing "When She Says Baby" as shots begin to ring out; Aldean rushes offstage mid-song once he realizes what's happening.
Las Vegas police have identified 64-year-old Stephen Paddock as the suspect in the shooting. He is dead.
