She sings "I got people in Boston" in her most famous song, "Heads Carolina, Tails California". But the truth is, she does have people in Boston and all over New England, because that's where she grew up.

Jo Dee Messina is a Northeast girl, growing up in Hopkinton, Massachusetts (yes, where the start of the Boston Marathon is).

She had a strong voice and an even stronger desire to be a country singer.  To convince Curb Records to sign her, she told the label head Nashville needed another red-headed singer besides Reba.

Jo Dee became a star in the 1990s and early 2000s with hits like "Bye, Bye", "I'm Alright", "Lesson in Leavin'", "Burn", "That's the Way", "Bring On the Rain" with Tim McGraw, and "Because You Love Me", and of course, "Heads Carolina, Tails California".

Cole Swindell recently had a number one song with a revision of Messina's "Heads Carolina" with "She Had Me at Heads Carolina", which Jo Dee sang on and made a guest appearance in the video.  They performed the song at the ACM Awards in Texas in May 2023.

The singer announced a new tour this spring, bringing her back to her Hometown Tour of six shows in New England.   The tickets are on sale, and you can see this powerful songstress in what will mark the epic return to her New England roots.

The shows are:

May 31 in Stamford, CT

June 1 in Webster, MA

June 2 in Boston, MA

June 6 in Sidney, ME

June 7 in Hampton Beach, NH

June 8 in Hyannis, MA

You can find tickets at jodeemessina.com, but you'd better hurry.  Some of the shows are sold out.

With the popularity of '90s country and a resurgence in country music in general, this will be a lively and fun-filled tour for Jo Dee and the audience.  Can you tell I am excited? Oh, "I'm Alright".
