Kira and New Hampshire’s Own April Cushman Wrote an ‘Ironic’ Parody
I was on the phone with my parents the other day telling them how important it is that they stay home right now. I couldn't help but realize what an ironic role reversal it was. If someone told my 16-year-old self that one day I would be lecturing my parents about the importance of staying home, I wouldn't have believed you. It was then I was inspired to write a parody of Alanis Morissette's "Ironic".
I reached out to local country artist, April Cushman, and knew she would be the perfect person to sing it! She helped me rewrite a few verses and after a few messages were exchanged this masterpiece was born. If I do say so myself, this parody has everything! It references being desperate for toilet paper, raiding the fridge out of boredom, there is even a nod to Tiger King's Joe Exotic. Behold: Exotic - A Covid 19 Parody
Make sure you follow April Cushman on social media. She has been hopping on Facebook live and keeping us entertained with fantastic quarantine concerts.
I hope soon enough this will be behind us. In the meantime I shall close my eyes and imagine it is a warm Summer eve. We are aboard the M/V Thomas Leighton for a WOKQ Kickin' Country cruise. April and her band are performing for us and we are shakin' our tail feathers on the dance floor. Think positive thoughts, my friends. And stay safe!
