How long before the Red Sox start adding even more seats, made out of Legos? Maybe the MBTA grabs a few blocks to patch up the Orange Line.

The integration opportunities are endless, after Lego announced that Boston will be the site of its North American headquarters.

The move will begin in 2025 and is set for completion by the end of 2026. The company is still searching for a location in central Boston. (Maybe they could help remodel the Martin Luther King Jr. statue that is raising eyebrows in the Boston Common.)

In a statement released by the company, President Skip Kodak (real name) said:

“Boston is ranked one of the best cities in the world to attract and retain talent. This, along with its world-class academic institutions, skilled workforce and great quality of life makes it an ideal location for our US head office. We have exciting plans for the next phase of growth and hope we can retain many of our current team, as well as attract new colleagues.”

Lego’s main headquarters is currently located in Enfield, Connecticut, which is close to Hartford as well as Springfield, Massachusetts. Enfield has been Lego’s home base since 1975.

The news could be poorly received by employees, as a town near Enfield was ranked among the best in the U.S. for first-time homeowners. However, only the Charles River separates downtown Boston from a town ranked the most family-friendly in the U.S.

And best of all: to all the other dads who’ve cursed the sky after stepping on a Lego – now we might get to hear Godzilla do it!
