At first I thought this had to be a joke. And I'm pretty sure the guy that got the ticket probably did too. After all, it happened on April Fools Day.

A guy took his pet python to the park to let it slither around a bit. But a sharp-eyed animal control officer spotted the snake, and fined the man $190 because the snake wasn't on a leash.

Now I'm sure you're wondering exactly what any reasonable person would; there are leashes for snakes? Well, it seems that fact doesn't matter. According to the Argus Leader, Animal Control is standing by the fine, saying that no animal may be "running at large...whether it's a dog, a chicken, or a snake."

OK...see why this sounds like an April Fools Day joke?
