Wait. Manchester, New Hampshire’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade Isn’t on St. Patrick’s Day?
I saw a video going around the internet about Manchester, New Hampshire, that at first, I did not get.
Then I clicked.
It was a video of a St. Patrick's Day Parade, but the parade was on March 30.
Here is the video below:

The parade itself looked really cool. I mean, those cars driving up and over a pickup is certainly awesome.
But why was the parade on Sunday, March 30, two weeks after the actual holiday?
To the city of Manchester's defense, they held the parade 13 days late on purpose.
The Saint Pats NH website said the delay of the parade was because of competition with NY and Boston parades:
Many people wonder why the parade is not held on the actual day that others celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. The answer is quite simple. It is very hard to compete with the likes of Boston and New York when it comes to attracting quality bands, marching units and floats on the actual day. Besides…St. Patrick’s Day is a period of time, not a day, so why not streeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetch it out a little!!
There are a limited amount of acts, floats, bagpipers, etc., in the northeast. When EVERY city wants them on the same day, St. Patrick's Day, it is impossible.
So, they decided to wait a bit to have the parade.
According to the website, the Manchester St. Patrick’s Parade is a privately funded event organized by volunteers and relies on donations from local businesses and supporters to cover costs like marching units, police, and city fees.
So, I get the reason. I really do.
And while I wish that the parade could be celebrated on St. Patrick's Day, I think we should cut Manchester some slack on the delay and instead enjoy one more festive thing in the Granite State.
