Prison Escape-arraignment
While two convicted murderers remain at large after their escape from an upstate New York prison more than three weeks ago, another person has been charged in the case. Maximum-security guard Gene Palmer is expected to plead not guilty today when he appears for arraignment. He's accused of passing on to the prisoners frozen meat that contained tools they used to escape. Prison sewing instructor Joyce Mitchell also has been charged with helping inmates David Sweat and Richard Matt escape on June 6 from the Clinton County Correctional Facility.

Marathon bomber 'sorry' for attack after 2-year silenceBoston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev has broken his two-year silence. Moments before a federal judge formally sentenced him to die for the 2013 bombing, the 21-year-old former college student apologized. He says he's sorry for the lives he has taken, for the suffering he's caused and for the irreparable damage he's done.Twenty-four bombing victims and their relatives lashed out at Tsarnaev in court on Wednesday for his "cowardly" and "disgusting" acts. Some survivors saw his apology as insincere.

Police: Father, son swimming in sandbar presumed dead
Police say a father and son probably drowned after going under water in a river about 10 miles northwest of Concord. Boscawen police say a family of four were swimming in a sandbar in the Merrimack River when a 10-year-old boy went under water. His 31-year-old father went in after him, and the pair never resurfaced. Recovery efforts resumed this morning.
