The bill passed yesterday along party lines. Supporters say it is necessary to prevent  what they call "drive-by" voter fraud, but opponents say the law will disenfranchise voters. The  Senate has also  passed a bill that would help reinvest in the historic Balsams hotel . The bill  would allow the state to create a district to collect fees from the Balsams property to repay $28 million in investment. It goes now to the house.
