New Englanders Are In Store For A Spectacular Meteor Shower
(Dover, NH) - The annual Perseids comes close to a new moon, so we should have an incredible view of the meteor shower Sunday night.
Once, many, many years ago, I climbed to the top of Mount Major in Alton and got an incredible, unobstructed view of what seemed like hundreds of meteors flying by.
The event is known as the Perseid Shower and is a result of the earths orbit passing through debris from the comet Swift-Tuttle. The peak time for viewing this years shower is Sunday night through the pre-dawn hours Monday.
If the skies are clear, it will be worth saying up late Sunday, or getting up extra early Monday morning.
