The invention of EZ pass is an important one for modern society. Can you imagine having to have quarters on you at all times to pay the toll? I can't remember the last time I saw a quarter! We are living in a digital world and I am a digital girl. EZ pass is a no brainer especially if you commute on a route with tolls.

But technology doesn't come without it's occasional snafus. We've all driven through the EZ pass lane and seen that dreaded message pop up that says "insufficient funds". Confusion and rage start coursing through your veins. "What do they mean, INSUFFICIENT FUNDS?!"

It usually is an EZ fix online but once in awhile it requires calling customer service and honestly who has the time?

Someone on the New Hampshire Subreddit thread posted about a dilemma they were having with New Hampshire EZ pass:

"I am having an issue where EZ Pass has a small charge on a day that to my knowledge I was nowhere near the state border (I live in Vermont and go to NH once a year). I am not an EZ pass customer and have never used the EZ pass lane for any reason. Their customer service number is backed up.  Does anyone have any stories like this, what happened/what did you do that worked? Thanks."

Redditors have conflicting opinions. Some say just pay the $3, it's better than wasting an hour plus on the phone with customer service and also if he waits to pay it he may have to deal with late fees. Others say it might just be $3 but if he truly believes it is a mistake he should fight it.

Mysterious charges, a relatable dilemma:

How many times have you seen a small charge on your bank statement and have wondered "What the heck is that?" But life is busy, time is money, you don't have the bandwidth or patience to sit on hold forever waiting to speak with a representative to get it sorted out. So you swallow your pride and pay the $3 and move on with your life.

But is that the lazy way out? We all work hard for our money and no company should be able to withdraw money from our bank accounts (no matter how small the amount) without an explanation. Maybe I am taking this too personally but I feel like they know how spread thin we are ESPECIALLY this time of year. There's no way that most of us will take the time out of our busy holiday filled schedules to dispute a $3 charge. My theory is that's why they do it.

This is not a dig specifically to EZ pass. For all I know if that person got ahold of someone from EZ Pass they may learn that  the $3 charge in question was for something completely legitimate. Many companies are guilty of this; streaming platforms, cable companies, even banks slide in annual fees that they hide in the fine print. I don't like it! I don't like it one bit!

But back to this specific EZ Pass dilemma. The reoccurring theory in the comments is that EZ Pass confused his license plate with one of their customers who has a similar plate. If this is the case, he should not be paying that $3 out of principle.

Would you suck it up and pay the $3 or fight for your rights?
