New Hampshire Man Rides Cross Country on Bike with His Cat ‘Marilyn Monroad’
Caleb Werntz is a documentary filmmaker wrapping up his seventh bicycle tour across our great country. This on it's own is an unbelievable and impressive feat. However, Caleb's journey is even more unique than you may realize. He had his twelve-year-old feline companion with him for every mile. She's a calico cat named “Marilyn Monroad.”
The intention of the last five years and seven crossings of the country, by bicycle, was to source and gather material to create a docuseries for social media and to write a book which he will publish and premiere for a broader audience.
Caleb is originally from Northern New Hampshire but to his memory had never been to Portsmouth until a few days ago. He and Marilyn finished their seventh trip across the country and he has chosen Portsmouth as his place to settle down, work a job, plug into a church community, and prepare his book/films.
Caleb was looking for short term housing for he and Marilyn and he posted in the Portsmouth, NH, community Facebook group about it. Both of them were welcomed and embraced with open arms and it sounds like they found a place they can temporarily call home.
Caleb seems like a really fascinating person with some great stories to tell. If you want to stay up to date on his documentary and upcoming book follow the dynamic duo on Instagram here.
