New Hampshire Mother Puts Ad in Local Newspaper Seeking Girlfriend for Her Son
Growing up as a Jewish woman, there is a trope that Jewish mothers are pushy and a little too involved in their son's love lives.
The stereotypical Jewish mother is always marketing their single son to women they barely know, and it usually goes down in the social hall at the temple after services: "You should go out with my grandson, he's a doctor! Let me give you his name, you can look him up!"
You can hear it now, can't you?
When I was perusing the New Hampshire Reddit group, I stopped in my tracks when I saw the work of (what felt like) one of my own.
A mother was sick and tired of waiting for grandbabies, so she decided to take matters into her own hands.
She put out an ad in the Laconia Daily Sun seeking a girlfriend for her 28-year-old son.
The ad is eloquently worded but almost feels like it was written in a different time period. Not to mention the idea of putting out a newspaper ad to find a date is incredibly outdated in itself.
Has this woman never heard of Tinder?
This mom and son are getting completely roasted by Redditors, but that is to be expected as that's what happens on the internet.
I think this is pretty hilarious and this mom is obviously well-intentioned. After all, at the end of the day, we all just want our children to be happy!
I hope her son finds love in 2025. Whether it will come from this newspaper ad or not, time will tell.
How would you feel if your parent did this on your behalf? Parents: would you ever take your child's love life into your own hands?
