New Hampshire Grandma Envy of Friends by Using This App
I ran into a friend at the supermarket the other who shared this hilarious story.
My friend's mom is 90 years old. She doesn't drive anymore, but is still mentally agile, and has quite a social life with church meetings and luncheons. She's is a grandma, and still enjoys plenty of family time with her children and grandchildren close by.
Grandma's name is Kathy, by the way.
So Kathy was at a gathering with a group of her friends, and the older women got to chatting about the skyrocketing cost of everything, including groceries. The ladies also discussed how difficult it was to get to the grocery store on a regular basis, especially if they don't drive anymore.
That's when Kathy chimed in and said "well I use an app to get my groceries". The older women were amazed as most were not internet savvy. But Kathy knows all about Instacart and how to get her groceries ordered and delivered.
This was enough information for her friends to be in awe. "Who taught you how to order on an app?", "What do you order?", "Do they deliver your groceries too?", and most importantly, "How much does it cost?".
The app is available on a computer or your phone, and while the app is free, there is a service fee associated with ordering and having your groceries delivered via Instacart.
Here's the rest of the story.
My friend had driven her mom to the event, so she was there while Kathy told her friends how she orders her groceries on Instacart.
My friend went on to say it was so cute for her mom, in her 90's, to be the cool one in the roomful of other older women.
In fact, my friend is the one who actually orders for her mom on the app, and then picks up the order at the store. Kathy just tells her what she wants. There's nothing tech savvy about that.
There's no service fee if you pick up your own groceries.
However, my friend was delighted she could give her mom some joy by telling her friends how tech savvy she was, which was totally ok by her.
It's the small things we do for one another that adds sparkle to each day.
