The Force will always be with Rob Villemaire. The huge Star Wars fan, who made headlines last month in his bid to see the latest installment of the series, passed Monday night in Bedford.

According to the Union Leader, his daughter was trying to find a way for her father to watch “Star Wars: The Last Jedi,” before he passed. Members of the New Boston and Bedford fire departments established a plan to allow the U.S. Air Force veteran to be transported Dec, 16 to the O'Neil Cinema in Epping where he and his daughter took in the film. On that day he said “Thank God, I am being blessed with enough health so I can watch this movie. I did not think I was going to make it, but when I woke up this morning I knew it was really, really going to happen.”

Ron Villemaire served 24 years in the U.S. Air Force, and two years in Vietnam passed at the age of 69. According to the Union Leader, he had been battling stage 4 colon cancer, which had spread to his lungs, kidneys and bones.
