I am proud of myself when I muster up the energy to run 2-3 miles. Completing a 5k is a huge, parade worthy, accomplishment for me and running the Falmouth Road Race (which is a little more than 7 miles) is by far the longest distance I ever run.

Long distance running takes an unbelievable amount of discipline and mental strength that I have always been super impressed by.

If someone told me that I should try running the length of our fine state of New Hampshire, which is about 190 miles, I would ask them what they are smoking. But believe it or not, it has been done! And a 36-year-old from Merrimack, New Hampshire, wants to not only complete this amazing feat, but do it faster than anyone else. In order to accomplish this hefty goal he would have to complete the task in less than week. This week, he sets out to do it.

Meet Justin Deflumeri from Merrimack, New Hampshire.  According to WMUR he is a former boxer who had a spinal tap done in 2017 that had serious complications.

After being bedridden for two years, Justin emerged and decided to run a 5K. it was then he found his new passion in running. And he hit the ground running, literally and figuratively! He ran over 200 races in just two years. I'm sore just thinking about it!

Today (Wednesday 6/18) he's running his longest race yet from Pittsburg to Nashua.

He plans to run 40 miles per day as he tries to complete the feat in five days. He said that as far as he knows, the current record to run the length of the state is eight days.

Justin is doing it as a personal challenge, but also to raise money for the Heather Abbott Foundation, which provides custom prostheses to those who have lost limbs, as Abbott did at the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing.

Way to go, Justin! Best of luck accomplishing this challenge for such an important cause. We believe in you!
