Ever walk out of Pac-Sun at the Fox Run Mall and think, “If only I could bring this tropical high to my tastebuds!” Well guess what, beach bums? We Fox freakin’ can!

In the latest sign that the Mall at Fox Run in the alleged town of Newington is rebuilding rather than retreating, the Palm Treats has opened up just outside of Macy’s.

According to the dessert-maker’s official site, the company specializes in unique tropical island desserts, currently focusing on recipes from Hawaii, most notably, “Aloha Cakes.”

Among the flavors on the menu are peach, pineapple coconut, strawberry, blueberry, apple, raspberry, mango, and peach-mango. So, if you can’t make it to a warmer climate this winter, you can still enjoy the food.

So far, it seems business is good. Reviews on Facebook as well as customer testimonials are overwhelmingly positive.

Despite one dummy proclaiming the Fox Run Mall “once great” and “shrinking", management has made some shrewd moves to counter the loss of anchor store Sears and business (and businesses) lost to lockdown and the pandemic.

The mall has introduced several new experiences for shoppers, including free movies and car shows. Additionally, the Mall is now dog friendly, a policy that has not only served as a plus for shoppers, but added levity and joy for young children.

Having sampled some Palm Treats, I cannot recommend it highly enough (do yourself a favor and try the blueberry).

It’s still unclear what the mall’s next anchor store will be. Perhaps the supposedly resurrected Ames, though I’m not sure I’d bet on it.
