Can you imagine your entire livelihood going up in flames in an instant?

Owning a small business these days is so difficult on its own. You pour your blood, sweat, and tears into it and work hard to establish a relationship with your community and those who visit and stimulate the economy.

To watch all of your hard work literally go up in smoke is something I would never wish upon anyone.

The Fire at 61 and 65 Perkins Cove Road in Ogunquit, Maine

According to the Portland Press Herald, a fire broke out in the Perkin's Cove area of Ogunquit, Maine, around 7 p.m. December 21.

No fire alarms were going off, neighbors just looked out their window and saw a building completely engulfed in flames.

Which businesses were affected by the fire in Ogunquit, Maine?

Uniques and Antiques and Oarweed Restaurant were severely damaged in this fire, according to the Portland Press Herald.

Oarweed was closed for the season, but Uniques and Antiques is one of the only stores in the area open this time of year, the newspaper said.

The building has served as a Christmas store for the community for 52 years, according to the Portland Press Herald.

At this point the man who rents the storefront, Rusty Rouleau, isn't sure if the owners of the building will choose to rebuild. It is all a numbers game and they need to figure out out if the insurance payout will be enough to rebuild according to current codes.

Oarweed Restaurant took to their social media on Sunday night to share amid the devastation and sadness they have hope and determination. It will take a lot of work but they are manifesting that they WILL be open for their 2025 season:
