(Warner, NH) -  On November 26, 2014 at approximately 7:02 a.m., Trooper Conlon of the New Hampshire State Police encountered a fully engulfed vehicle on I-89 northbound just south of Exit 9.  The vehicle was found on the left side of the roadway and resting against the guardrail.

A preliminary investigation revealed the driver of an older model SUV, later identified as 52 year old Victor McAllister of Bradford, had been traveling northbound on I- 89 when it inexplicably drove off the left side of the road. The vehicle subsequently struck a granite rock formation in the median, rolled over and caught fire. Two people working at a local business in close proximity to I-89 in Warner heard the crash. They ran up to the scene and pulled McAllister from the burning vehicle.  McAllister was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Interstate was fully closed for a brief period of time while emergency services personnel worked the scene until one lane of travel was ultimately re-opened for traffic.

This crash is currently under investigation by New Hampshire State Police Troop D in Concord.  Trooper Douglas Schack is the lead investigator.  The State Police were assisted at the scene by the Warner Fire and Rescue and the New Hampshire Department of Transportation.

Anyone with information pertaining to this incident is encouraged to contact Trooper Schack at (603) 271-3636.
