Before Michael Bay fell in love with explodey things and CGI wasn't even on the radar, there was the 1986 classic The Transformers: The Movie. As a service to humanity, you can see it on the big screen tonight.

For one night only, as the marketing trope goes, you can see the original Transformers movie starring the likes of Judd Nelson, Leonard Nimoy, Eric Idle, Robert Stack and Casey (bleepin') Kasem. It also turned out to be the last film that Orson Welles was in, dying five days after voicing his part.

The film is set in 2005 (y'know, the distant future) and -- spoiler alert-- Optimus Prime dies! The tagline says it all: Beyond Good. Beyond Evil. Beyond Your Wildest Imagination. Well, that doesn't really mean anything, but that's okay: there are Autobots and Decepticons fighting.

See it tonight in Hooksett at 8pm, as part of Cinemagic's Cult Classic series. Other area Cinemagic Theaters will be showing the likes of Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Big Lebowski and Ferris Bueller in the coming weeks and months.
