Wow, the odds of this happening are astronomical! Two orange lobsters were pulled out of a lobster shipment by a Market Basket employee in Seabrook.

According to a story from WMUR, a longtime employee, Nathan, found the first one, then the 2nd one.  The odds of this happening, according to the story, are 20 to 30 million!  The expert said that they may pull out only about 3 or 4 every year.

The expert that was talking to WMUR said that the orange color of the lobster could be because of a genetic mutation or the color of lobsters change throughout their life.  (Wouldn't they be more common if that was the case?  I don't know diddly tho - I'm not a lobster scientist.)

What Will Market Basket Do With the Two Orange Lobsters They Found

At the time of the report, the Managers at Market Basket had to decide what to do next with the orange pair.  These type of lobsters are usually sent somewhere else other than the tank that we all see in the seafood section. They go to a place that can study why they are orange. I'm assuming they won't sell them to the general public.

I am so conflicted when it comes to lobsters. I love them so much when they are cooked and out of their shell, swimming in butter and crabmeat stuffing, but I can't stand to cook them.  I know that many fishermen and stores will cook them for you before you even take them home, but I can't even ask.  I'm such a baby!

Here's hoping the two orange pals have a great life and they can help science tell us more about their colorful shells.
