When people decide to welcome a dog into their home, many are seeking out puppies or pure breeds. However, there is something noble and amazing about adopting a dog from a shelter.

Meet the man of the year, Ace, aka Acey-boy:

This three-year-old stud muffin came to the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society after he and his previous owner found themselves in a tough spot. It was decided that the shelter was the best option for Acey, and after a few days of warming up, they got to know the real him. It turns out that he's a bit of a goofball!

That being said, you have to put in the work to see that side of him. His past has lead him to be a bit leery of new people, and his new person should be prepared to help him build his confidence around others. This anxious guy needs a quiet setup, and ideally, he should be living one-on-one with another person.  A young, active loner would be a phenomenal match for this guy. Someone who will take him out to exercise but not in highly populated places. Secluded trails on a long leash are just his cup of tea.

Ace loves to adventure, whether that be hiking, swimming, running, or riding the couch watching your favorite show.

Ace has been in the shelter since June, and is patiently waiting for his forever home. There is nothing he wants more than to find his person to snuggle up with and smother in kisses. Don't be fooled by his hard exterior. Once you break through, he is the most lovable and loyal guy.

If you would like to give this guy a chance, please stop in to the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society or give them a call to set up a visit with one of their behavior coordinators or senior staff members.

Oh, and one more thing! They have found that another playful dog in home will help Ace acclimate, so if you have another dog, don't forget to bring him or her for a doggie meet and greet with Ace.
