First thing is first: We all need to give a SHOUT OUT to the plow guys and gals out there - without them, we would NOT be able to drive anywhere safely.

Every snowstorm, whether it be two inches or a foot, people complain about the conditions of the roads.

I think we can all agree, at least I hope we can all agree, that plow drivers do the very best they can. They plow - it snows more. They plow again - more snow.

Being a plow driver is...inconsistent. It is a tricky job to put an hourly rate on because you never know how many hours they will work, how many snow storms we will get, and how severe the storms are.

So it is a hard profession to gauge the appropriate pay for...or is it?

What do Plow Drivers Make in the New England States?

Obviously, everyone is different. There are different things that made a salary (or hourly rate) of a plow driver: experience, if you drive your own truck, if you work for the state versus private, etc.

According to Indeed AND ZipRecruiter, I wanted two sources for the most accurate number, plow drivers in New England make about $25 per hour.

What Should Plow Drivers Make in New England?

If you ask me - more than they do.

Plow drivers have a tough job. They wake up at 3 am, plow for hours, and STILL have people complaining that the roads are not dry enough.

Plow drivers are on call - like a doctor. So maybe they shouldn't make doctors pay...but they should be paid more than $25/hour if they are working these crazy times...

NOT TO MENTION - we all need plow drivers so that doctors, ambulance workers, and other essential workers can continue their jobs.

Plow drivers deserve more pay. And FAR more thank yous and respect.
