Rochester Police were called to the area of Old Dover Road after a homeowner says he awoke Thursday to find his home had been broken into and a number of items taken, including electronica and several firearms.

Police set up a perimeter believing the suspect may still be in the area, and encountered a male who turned and ran, discarding several items from his person and throwing them into the woods. The discarded items were the two stolen firearms.

A K-9 unit was called to the scene and followed tracks, leading to the arrest of 23 year old Christopher Nathan Bell of Academy Street in Rochester. He is charged with Burglary, Resisting Arrest or Detention, Receiving Stolen Property , and on charges pending in Concord and Merrimack County Court.

Rochester Police remind residents to keep their homes and vehicles locked.
