Rochester, New Hampshire sure has changed over the past few years.  The Ridge Marketplace, for people who have been here for a long time, is a huge development for the Lilac City and every other community in the area.  There is a Market Basket, Old Navy, a NH Liquor Store, Marshalls and so many more stores.

The developers of that space have now told Foster's Daily Democrat what they have planned for Phase I and Phase II.

Phase II

Route 11 is going to become 2 lanes in each direction because the increase in traffic. That work is likely to start in the Spring or Summer.  The plans for Phase II include:

  • 24 hour emergency medical facility.
  • 222 apartments
  • Movie theater
  • Restaurants
  • Retail Shops

Phase III

This will be the biggest development, three times the size of the Phase I and II projects combined, according to the article.  The developers do not yet own the 165 acres for this planned project, but the closing is expected to happen in May.

This third phase is expected to take 5-10 years and include:

  • An event center that could offer weddings and/or concerts.  The capacity would be between 2,200 to 5,000 people.
  • More Residential apartments
  • More Retail Shops
  • A Health and Wellness Campus

I have older sibling who are resistant to change and not comfortable with development of any kind, but think about all the jobs that are being created; all the people who will find an apartment and how convenient it will be to have pretty much everything you need in one place.  You could literally live and work in the same community.

Exciting times ahead.
