Saturday is ‘Stamp Out Hunger Day’ in New Hampshire and Across the Nation
It's a very easy way for you to help those who are less fortunate right here in our very own state.
This Saturday, May 11th, the National Association of Letter Carriers will collect non-perishable food items that you leave by your mailbox or drop off at your local Post Office. The 'Stamp Out Hunger National Food Drive is the nation's largest one-day food drive.
Every year, the second Saturday in May is the annual letter carrier food drive. All food collected and donated stays within our local community.
The numbers of food insecure in New Hampshire alone are staggering. This is an easy way you can help those who are unsure where their next meal is coming from.
Some of the most needed items are:
- Canned fruits and vegetables
- Peanut butter
- Canned tuna and chicken
- Dry pastas
- Boxed macaroni and cheese
- Canned soups
To donate, just place a bag or box of non-perishable, non-glass food items next to your mailbox (before your letter carrier delivers your mail), or you can drop of the donation to your local Post Office.
