Seagull Shot In Maine Had To Be Euthanized
Police need your help tracking down the suspect, or suspects.
According to the Bangor Daily News, Belfast police are searching for whoever shot a seagull, which led to the bird having to be put down. In the report, officials say the seagull, which is a legally protected species, was found with a single lead projectile lodged in it. They say the bird’s wing wasn’t repairable, and the bird was euthanized.
Details on the case are still very few and far between. As of this writing, there is no record of when the incident took place, or even where. However, it is believed that whoever shot the bird did it in the Belfast area.
While a potential penalty in this case was not available, NBC News reported that a fisherman in Philadelphia was convicted in 2015 of killing 189 seagulls that were roosting at a marine terminal and fined him the minimum $14,175 — or $75 per bird.
