Snowy season is here. It always starts with 1-2 nights of flurries...and then...BOOM a nor'easter hits us all when we least expect it!

Very snowy seasons bring a pet peeve for me...snow piles.

Living in a small city like Portsmouth, snow removal is an issue when big storms hit.

And I know, you know what I mean. You are trying to turn out of Market Basket or turn onto Islington in downtown Portsmouth, but you can't. Why? There is a giant mound of snow blocking your view...

I mean, we have had major snowstorms in New England for centuries. Why have we not figured out a better method for dealing with the never-ending snow piles?

Maybe because we are ignoring our neighbors to the north.

I'm talking about our Continent Cousin, Canada.

A video has recently gone viral for how Canadian snow removal goes, and it is a lot better than what we do in New England.

Check it out below:

There is no snow pile. There is no plow mound. There are no blocked corners!

They simply block a street, plow into a pile, and then use a massive machine to move all of the snow off the street and into a bigger truck. From there, the truck can go dump the snow out of the city, somewhere the snow can be built up without being a distraction or a driving hazard.

Are we doing this in cities in New England? I have never seen one of these snow pick-up machines...

I'm sure they are expensive, but I would love to see some of my tax dollars go to something like this!
