Southern New Hampshire Farm Offers Complimentary Cow Cuddles
Animals make us happier! This is not a hot take. People have been owning pets since as far back as we remember for companionship and unconditional love.
But in recent years the connection has been made that the ownership of ESAs (or Emotional Support Animals) can significantly reduce stress, anxiety, and symptoms of depression. Their ability to provide comfort in times of distress and offer companionship helps people feel less isolated and improve their overall quality of life. This is why so many people got dogs during the global pandemic! We were all craving companionship (not through a computer screen more than ever)
Improved Mood
This sounds like a subjective thing but it is actually backed by science! Interaction with an ESA can lead to the release of dopamine and serotonin, which are chemicals in the brain that contribute to feelings of happiness and emotional well-being.
Increased Social Interaction
ESAs can act as a bridge for people who otherwise might avoid social interactions. Spending time with ESAs encourages social engagement in public spaces or within communities.
Promote Routine and Responsibility
Taking care of an ESA can help people establish a routine and a sense of responsibility. This structure can be especially helpful for people experiencing depression, as it encourages them to get up and care for another living being, which provides a sense of purpose.
Physical Health Benefits
Petting an animal can lower heart rate and blood pressure, contributing to improved physical health. The calming effects can result in overall lower stress levels.
Reduction of PTSD Symptoms
ESAs can help alleviate triggers and provide a sense of control, security, and companionship for those suffering form PTSD.
Increased Motivation
ESAs often encourage their owners to engage more in physical activity, whether it’s walking, playing, or simply spending time with the animal.
Enhanced Sleep Quality
The calming influence of ESAs can help people feel more secure and relaxed during the night.
When most people think of an Emotional Support Animal, their mind goes directly to a dog or perhaps cat. Would you ever think of a cow as an emotional support animal?
A farm in Southern New Hampshire took to the New Hampshire Subreddit thread to offer free cow cuddling on their farm in Hillsboro, New Hampshire.
They have two Jersey calves that they are keeping as pets and would love to have them socialized. If anyone would like to come by for a short cuddle or bottle feeding session, feel free to DM them!
They also have miniature Olde English Southdown lambs available for snuggles in the late winter/early spring lambing season.
Have you ever cuddled a cow before? Are they decent cuddlers? Do they prefer to big or little spoon?
