These Are the Top 5 Roller Coasters in New Hampshire & Maine
These are the top five coasters you need to visit at some point before fall rolls back around! For the purpose of this list, parks are limited to one coaster each with the assumption that if you're there you're going to ride them all anyhow. And yes, I'm partial to the wooden coasters. On to the list!
#1. YANKEE CANNONBALL (Canobie Lake Park, Salem, NH)
The oldest and still the best roller coaster at Canobie Lake Park. This old wooden coaster remains the go-to at a park that has really upped its coaster options in recent years.
#2. ROAR-O-SAURUS (Storyland, Glen, NH)
Most of Storyland is geared towards a younger set, but this gem of a coaster offers over 1,200 of track in a tight space with lots of twists and turns and is wicked fun.
#3. EXCALIBUR (Funtown Splashtown USA, Saco, ME)
I did warn you I'm partial to the wooden coasters. The Excalibur opened up in 1998 but feels like a throwback The largest coaster in Northern New England, they claim.
#4. GALAXI (Palace Playland, Old Orchard Beach, ME)
Not so much for the thrills but the views it offers. It's also about the same as the now defunct Galaxy at Canobie which was my first real coaster experience.
#5. ATTITASH MOUNTAIN COASTER (Attitash Mountain Resort, Bartlett, NH)
This one is obviously a little different from the rest, but it is a must-see for ride enthusiasts. There is nothing like a ride where you feel like a bear could maul you at any moment.
