Pizza has always been my go-to cheat meal (right up there with mac n’ cheese). It’s my favorite way to indulge when I just want to eat without judgment.

So grab your stretchy pants, because we’re hitting the road to explore some Massachusetts and New Hampshire pizza spots that keep me coming back for more, and why they should be on your New England road-trip list.

First up: I love Frankie’s in Worcester, Massachusetts.

I know what you’re thinking… Worcester!? YES, Worcester. Frankie has been hand-tossing pizzas and baking them in a stone oven for years, and you can taste that passion in every bite. This is classic New York–style pizza done right. The cheese pizza alone might be the best you’ll ever have.

Every time I take a bite, I turn into Kevin McCallister in Home Alone 2: “A lovely cheese pizza just for me!”

My recommendation? The 18” El Presidente, well done. Trust me, you won’t regret it. The rich sauce, creamy cheese, and perfectly balanced spices make this pizza unforgettable. And the cherry on top?

The logo is inspired by his daughter. Just be ready to wait, whether it’s in line or online. It’s popular for a reason, and yes, it’s worth it.

Next stop: Blue Square Pizza in Hopkinton, Massachusetts.

These guys are serving up Detroit-style, Chicago Cracker Thin, and New York–style pizzas, but for me, it’s all about the Detroit. What sets them apart is their use of sourdough. The caramelized cheese crust on the edges, combined with that fluffy-yet-chewy interior, takes your taste buds on a serious ride.

My go-to? The meatball with vodka sauce! The ingredients are top-notch, and the flavors are unforgettable. The vodka sauce is buttery, creamy, and reminds you of your grandmother's Sunday sauce.

Blue Square will make you question out loud how their pizza could taste so good.

Then there’s The Rail at La Stazione in Somersworth, New Hampshire... a spot I found completely by accident and will never forget.

This pizza leans more Neapolitan in style, with smaller slices, a doughier texture, and a thicker crust. It’s simple but done incredibly well.

My recommendation? The Mostro Pepperoni. It’s a triple pepperoni pizza with hot honey (can you see a pattern here with hot honey?)  sauce, and it’s basically a full-on dance party for your taste buds. Some of the pepperoni is chopped and crisped to perfection, creating an unreal bite every single time.

And finally, Mike & Lenny’s Bar Pie.

This one’s a bit different; it’s a food truck typically found at Widowmaker Brewing Company in Braintree, Massachusetts, with a ghost kitchen in Walpole for online orders. Their bar pies are smaller (about 10–12 inches), thin, and perfectly crisp on the edges.

I fell in love with the char on these pizzas because it adds just the right amount of crunch and flavor. My pick? The Gold Fevah. The sweet and tangy combo of honey mustard and BBQ is seriously addictive and pairs perfectly with the crispy crust. It’s the kind of pizza you finish before you even realize it.

What makes Mike & Lenny’s even better? It’s perfect for on-the-go ordering when you need something quick but still crave high-quality pizza. And if you’re looking for a dog-friendly stop, their Braintree setup at Widowmaker is a great place to bring your furry friend along for the ride.
