Police say 24 year old Timothy Smith and 26 year old Michael Brochu had alledgedly offered to use a credit card in exchange for cash to purchase gas for customers at the Monster gas station on South Main Street, but fled with the cash.

They returned the next day and attempted the same scam, but left when a customer refused the offer. The two were spotted nearby by police and were arrested after a breif foot pursuit.

Both were charged with conspiracy to commit theft by deception and resisting arrest. Smith was also charged with parole violations for earlier theft cases in Maine and New Hampshire.
